Pediatric Osteopathy
Soft-touch treatment that relaxes and calms
For babies
Traumatic births in particular can lead to a baby needing osteopathy. The use of forceps, ventouse, pulling assistance, complications involving fetal distress, the umbilical cord or the placenta can all lead to patterns through the muscles and bones that make Baby uncomfortable, or lead to poor digestive transit. Sometimes the head shape, jaw or tongue or lip tie can lead to difficulty latching and feeding, or to unsettled crying.
Sometimes Baby (and often Mum) can be in shock from labour, especially if they were delivered via C-section. Cranial Osteopathy is designed to rebalance the nervous system and bring calm and a sense of safety back to Baby.

For toddlers
Often, a parent will bring a baby or toddler to see an Osteopath because they cry in distress in the car, or even report pain during car journeys. Sitting still in a car seat can show up issues in the neck, back or hips, which may be because of a fall or injury from playing, or it may be a more chronic issue that has been going on for a while.
Sometimes, I treat a toddler for walking with a foot turned in or out, or difficulty meeting milestones such as standing, crawling and walking.
Most of the time, toddlers recover very quickly because they bounce right back into shape after a treatment or two.

For children
Kids get up to all sorts of interesting injuries, from falling out of trees or off monkey bars, to injuries acquired during sport.
Growing pains, postural difficulties and anxiety are also reasons that parents have brought children in to see Dr Anna or Dr Megan over the years.
From mini elite athletes to children who have badly stubbed a toe and set their posture out of balance, Anna has seen it all.
If you want to get your child in for an appointment, simply book online or call 0483 802 208.

All treatment of babies and children here at the clinic is soft, non-invasive, and a calming experience. Dr Anna Brown has done extensive training in pediatrics, and uses a variety of osteopathic techniques, including Craniosacral Osteopathy, Biodynamic Osteopathy and gentle movement of the limbs and trunk to help enact change. By using modern medical assessment combined with Osteopathic diagnosis, Anna can thoroughly assess and diagnose complaints in children and infants. Anna is always happy to refer to a Pediatrician if she feels there is something going on that needs further investigation.
